Each year in the autumn the leaves change. They fall away as the trees go dormant and refuel themselves to re-emerge in the spring looking a bit different. The leaves die away so the tree can blossom and become lush and green again months later.

We, too, go through seasons and processes like this. In these transitions we have an opportunity to re-emerge looking and feeling a bit different, which can be exciting. But the truth is that these periods can often be a bit difficult. Letting go of something that was, allowing things to die away so we can welcome something new.

Letting go isn’t always easy. Facing our fears and getting out of our comfort zone to release the familiar can be hard while we are waiting and looking forward to what will emerge. Often times we don’t even know what that new thing will be. Or, we think we do and life gives us something entirely different from what we had planned. Despite the difficulty of transition, it it such a beautiful process.

I am in a transition like that now. Letting go of a full time corporate role to explore being and doing something different professionally. At the same time, I also moved to the suburbs where I don’t know anyone, after having lived in the heart of the city so close to many friends. I’m letting go of the familiar, the comfortable to see what new opportunities await.

I have an idea of some of what I want to emerge, but am also very aware that in time it will become clearer and may be different than what I imagined. I am opening myself to those possibilities and doing my best to release the urge to control it all. The process is both exciting and sometimes daunting. Facing uncertainties through calming the fears that inevitably bubble up, going with the flow, staying true to my course and trusting that whatever emerges is as it should be. Easier said than done, of course, but it’s all part of the process that leads to beautiful new destinations.

And this is the focus of my new work. Transitions. Courage to make change – personally or professionally, individuals or businesses. Transforming from what was into what could be. Transformational change is something I’ve experienced quite a lot – both personally and professionally – and I want to use my experiences and learnings to enable others to make successful transformations for themselves, their teams or their businesses.

So, what is the transition you desire or are facing? Is there something new or different you would like to explore or perhaps change in your life or business? If you would like a partner or support on that journey please get in touch. The journey is easier when we have support.
