Southern Roots with a Heart for the World

Originally from Montgomery, Alabama, I’m a southern girl at heart with a big passion for exploring, connecting with and making a difference in the world.  With my southern roots, I followed in the footsteps of my parents and grandfather as the third generation to attend Auburn University, becoming an Auburn Tiger at heart.  I’ve carried that spirit and my southern hospitality around the world landing across the pond, now calling London my home and the base for my global work and exploration since 2009.  The Auburn Tiger is now also an England rugby fan.  Southern roots with global wings.
People Side of Business 
Studying Human Resources and Psychology as an undergraduate then getting two Masters degrees (MBA and MSc in International HR), I always had a passion for the people side of business. My progressive corporate career of over 20+ years included senior advisory roles for large, multinational companies across healthcare, financial services, pharmaceuticals, biotech, and business process outsourcing, including a Fortune 30 and several other blue chip Fortune 500 companies.
Exploring the World, it’s People & Cultures
I developed a passion for travel and exploring the world in my thirties – making a lifelong goal to visit every country in the world.  This love of exploring the world, it’s people and cultures, dramatically increased when I relocated from Florida to London in 2009.  (Quite the culture shock!)  That’s when my broader global exploration truly ignited – visiting approximately 60 countries to date and counting. 
This love of exploring and truly connecting to people and cultures around the world sparked a deep passion for working across all cultures in a deeply inclusive way. That led to academic research for a master’s thesis focused on “Cultural Intelligence and Leadership”. Blending this academic background into the professional roles of working across nearly 100 countries created an expertise in how to work more effectively in a global environment and across cultures – both locally and abroad.
Today this passion of connecting with people around the world forms the basis of influencing genuine inclusion in business and in life – across cultures, races, ethnicities, religions, appearance, age, genders, sexual orientations and everything else. Showing the world the value of inclusion and how to bring out the best in people by creating truly inclusive and welcoming environments.
Change & Transformation
At the age of 35 I embarked on a series of radical life changes, from extreme weight loss, to starting an international lifestyle, ending a corporate career to start my own business, and many more significant changes to my personal life. During that 13 year period of intense self-discovery and personal transformation, I was simultaneously leading major global change initiatives in all areas of business across nearly 100 countries around the world. Changes in processes, systems, tools, employee engagement and culture, organizational structure, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, down-sizing.

Between the personal and professional experience, I’ve made or led nearly every type of change possible in business and in life. There were successes and failures, but throughout it all…learning! What to do, what not to do. How to truly engage people to make meaningful and lasting change. All of this experience has formed the foundation of my business – in speaking, consulting and 1:1 coaching (personal and professional). Enabling people and businesses to make whatever changes needed to get to the heart of who they truly are.

Leadership & Teams
Throughout my life I’ve always loved making a difference with people. In the corporate environment that translated into developing people – especially leaders and teams. This could be through 1:1 coaching & mentoring, facilitating workshops & events, or creating formal & informal development programs. I’ve spent over two decades being trained in various coaching and leadership concepts and models, as well as developing and delivering a wide variety of leadership and team effectiveness programs. That broad knowledge base provides a depth of experience when I’m working with leaders and teams around the world to create bespoke programs to enable individual leaders and teams to work more effectively together and across a variety of cultures and people.
So what’s it all about?
The three things that drive me most in life are:

  • Making a difference & helping others bring out the best in themselves
  • Genuinely connecting with people 
  • Exploring the world, it’s people and cultures – raising awareness and connecting people around the world

My work is a blend of all of these, combined with over 20 years of working on the people side of business and over a decade of making dramatic personal change.  Leveraging my personal and corporate experience to engage the hearts and minds of people to change behaviors and perspectives.  That’s what it’s all about!
